From its head office for Europe in Munsbach, Luxembourg, the Avalon.sk Technology Group has begun work on the Luxembourg National Railways Technology Infrastructure, providing satellite link technologies to all passenger trains originating from Luxembourg for asset tracking and high-speed data uplinks. The project is currently being funded by CFL, the European carrier across the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The new infrastructure will provide CFL and Eurorail passengers with ground-breaking bandwidth for internet connections on high-speed trains that will be serving all users regardless of seating arrangements. Avalon.sk is providing seamless integration between technology systems to create dynamically updated timetables with real-time tracking of moving trains and the delivery of DVB-T to first-class users.
The effort will also involve Ifrabel, a Belgian rail maintenance contractor working with our Belgium office who will be modernising the tracks between Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Germany. The Avalon.sk Technology Group will be integrating its uplink system with pioneering electronic systems provided by its subsidiary, Electrica, that will form part of the safety system for the modernised tracks. Using excellence in engineering, the electronic systems will provide a compensatory safety system that integrates between European states to allow all electronic safety and communications systems to collaborate information and provide both anticipatory and compensatory adjustments to scheduling and signalling on-the-fly.
The contract will continue until June 2011.
